1/14 Assignments Welcome to CS 61B! There are two things you can work on right now: HW 0 and Lab 1b. Lab 1 will be coming 1/15 most likely (waiting on our autograder to be ready).
1/15 Assignments Fill out a Google form to receive an instructional account. This form is mandatory even if you don't plan to use your lab account.
1/16 Lecture Because Wheeler can't hold everyone, we'll have additional alternate lectures for the first two weeks:

1/18 Office Hours Office hours will temporarily be held in 779 Soda (Josh's office) while we still try to work out arrangements for a more permanent office hours space.
1/21 Logistics Please read the linked Piazza post for various logistical clarifications on lab attendance, waitlist enrollment, and partnerships for the first two projects.
1/22 Assignments Gradescope submission for lab1 is now available. The Piazza link contains the class entry code. Information is also updated on lab1.
1/23 Assignments If you have not already done so, please register your proj0 partner to receive a special GitHub repo for collaboration on proj0.
1/26 Piazza We have posted rules on proper Piazza etiquette that will make Piazza a more useful tool for both staff and students. Please read those before posting.
1/28 Logistics If you are the waitlist, please try to switch into an open section rather than waiting for an already full one! Even if there is room in the lecture, Tele-BEARS will not let you enroll until there is room in the discussion/lab that you are waitlisted for.
1/29 Exams Midterm 1 will take place on Friday, February 12, 7-9 PM. If you have a legitimate time conflict, please fill out the time conflict form by Wednesday, February 3, at 1 PM.
1/29 Assignments Because the regular Gradescope assignments will not accept late submissions, you can use new ungraded Gradescope assignments to get feedback past the deadline.
1/30 Assignments If you would like a partner for Project 1, please fill out the partners form by Monday, February 1, at 11 PM.
2/1 External Resources The student organization Computer Science Mentors (CSM) will be running weekly small group sections this semester to supplement 61B course resources. First sections will start the week of 2/8.
2/1 External Resources The student organization CSUA will be teaching a Git workshop for those who are new to Git or just want a refresher. It will happen on February 8 at 6 PM in HP Auditorium (306 Soda).
2/1 External Resources HKN, the EECS honor society, starts holding tutoring office hours this week. Drop-in tutoring is available in 290 Cory and 345 Soda every Monday-Friday, 11 AM - 5 PM.
2/3 Guerrilla Sections The first two guerrilla sections 1a and 1b will be held on 2/6 and 2/7 from 11-1 PM in Soda's second floor labs.
2/5 Exams Midterm 1 will take place on Friday, February 12, 7-9 PM. Please check Piazza for information on where to go for the exam.
2/5 Assignments proj1a deadline is extended by 24 hours. proj1b will share the same deadline as proj1c.
2/8 External Resources The Unit 4 Hall Association is sponsoring exam parties on 2/9 and 2/11 in the evenings at the Foothill Assembly Room. Course staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions for midterm 1.
2/9 Office Hours Our official semester-long office hours space is the northwest corner of Garbarini Lounge (map here). Note that students are not allowed to spill over beyond that corner as we don't have the rest of Garbarini Lounge booked.
2/9 Assignments If you are still having $CLASSPATH issues, see the new classpath_tester.py script in the javalib folder.
2/12 Labs Labs will turn into a "review fair" in preparation for the midterm. Each room will be assigned to review specific topics or provide project support.
2/17 External Resources CS 198 (Intro to Teaching Computer Science) is offering hour-long one-on-one tutoring sessions to CS 61B students.
2/17 Advising Sessions We will be holding advising sessions for students who would like to discuss their progress privately with a TA. We're willing to talk to you about anything going on - difficulties in the class, general study/project advice, general CS major questions, life stuff, etc.
2/18 Exams Midterm 1 scores are now released! Check the Piazza post for solutions and information on regrades and advising sessions.
2/20 Assignments The proj2 spec has been released.
2/20 Logistics Josh announced various updates to the grading policy (e.g. grading bins and project gold points).
2/21 Exams If you scored fewer than 10 points on midterm 1, you can take an optional redemption midterm to earn back points up to a total of 10.
2/24 Guerrilla Sections The next guerrilla section will be held on 2/27 from 11-1 PM in Soda's second floor labs.
3/1 Office Hours This week, office hours will be in Bechtel 110 MD, not Garbarini Corner. OH on 3/7 and 3/8 will also be in Bechtel 110 MD. Starting Wed 3/9, OH will revert back to Garbarini Corner.
3/2 Assignments The proj2 basics autograder and video #2 are now released.
3/3 Assignments Staff is aggregating important Piazza posts on proj2 to create a curated FAQ post. Please check this post for the answer to your question before posting on Piazza to keep the forum clean & responsive for new questions!
3/5 Assignments Josh posts some observations on proj2 and announces a change in the grading scheme. More detailed point breakdown posted here.
3/10 Guerrilla Sections The next guerrilla section will be held on 3/13 from 11-1 PM in Soda's second floor labs.
3/13 Exams Midterm 2 will take place on Thursday, March 31, 6-8 PM. If you have a legitimate time conflict, please fill out the time conflict form by Friday, March 18, at 1 PM.
3/18 Feedback For one point of extra credit, please fill out this Spring Break survey. We'll use your feedback to make course corrections so that we can finish out our last 5 weeks as excellently as possible.

4/17 Assignments Office hours got a little crazy, so we're going to try something new. For those you who need debugging help, you must fill out this form before you can receive help from a staff member. The goal of this help is to help you self-reflect on the debugging process and give the staff a clear & concise description of the problem as well as solutions you've tried.
4/17 Assignments Alan posted an A* and routing guide to help with project 3. There are also updates on how grading will work here.
4/22 Guerrilla Sections The next guerrilla section will be held on 4/23 from 11-1 PM in Soda's second floor labs.
4/28 Feedback There will be two HKN surveys at the end of tomorrow's lecture and the alternate lecture. Filling out the survey will earn you 2 extra credit points. If you miss lecture, you can still stop by the HKN office to fill out the survey as stated here.
5/1 Logistics Please register your instructional accounts as we'll be listing finalized assignment grades on glookup.
5/2 Guerrilla Sections The next guerrilla section will be held on 5/5 from 11-2 PM in Soda's second floor labs.
5/7 Logistics You may request any grade lower than your earned grade. Your request can also be conditional on receiving a particular score in the class.
5/8 Exams The final will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 7-10 PM in RSF Fieldhouse and 2050 VLSB.
